WCAR 3rd Annual Give-a-Thon

This is another special year for our community—many folks have been hit hard financially, and the needs of our area residents have grown substantially.  Over 600 Whatcom County Realtors and Affiliates are answering the call to help.  The Realtor’s Association has come up with a great way to celebrate the holidays and make it easy and fun to support our local causes.

When:       December 2, 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Where:       3990 Meridian St, Bellingham, The Old Value Village building

Who:           Whatcom County Association of Realtors in conjunction with the Bellingham Herald, Cascade Radio Group, Talk it up TV, WECU & Bank of the Pacific, Bellingham Flea Market

 

How does it work?

Nonprofits will be selected through an application process and will be invited to host a table at the event.  The tables should be decorative and educational.  Nonprofits are encouraged to accept specifically needed items in addition to cash donations.  They are also encouraged to bring items to sell.

 

What do you get out of it?

In addition to the possible cash and in-kind donations, you get the exposure of all the advertising, and you get a forum for bringing your needs to the public.  One of the biggest benefits year after year is the networking opportunity with other non-profits in the area.

 

What do we expect from you?

You need to bring an 8 foot table, staff to man it, and your decorations.  You need to bring a batch of cookies to donate for the good of the cause.  We are encouraging you to bring some items that could be sold. If you can obtain a raffle or silent auction item, that would be wonderful!  Most importantly, you need to market the event ahead of time.  Put it on your , website, your Facebook page and email your database.

 

Why would people come?

Holiday events are always fun and this one will have Santa Claus, live music, door prizes, treats and beverages. This year we are adding a happy hour from 5-7 pm at the end.  We will have beer, wine and munchies, and a silent auction.  It will be a great way to knock out your Christmas shopping.  Beyond that, what’s better than sharing the wealth during the holidays? That feel good feeling is worth the trip!

 

What do I do to participate?

Fill out the short application below and submit it no later than 5:00 pm on November 1st. Selected organizations will be notified by November 4th.  Organizations must have non-profit status, and the donations must stay local.

Last year over 40 charities participated, and we raised over $50,000 in cash and donations.  This year our goal is to make it bigger, and we need your help to do it.

While the organizing partners will be marketing to thousands and the Realtors will advertise and invite their affiliated businesses and all their clients, we can’t do this without your marketing efforts as well.  This event was always meant to be a gorilla marketing campaign, and that means that each and every non-profit needs to market to their database as well.

Space is limited and time is short!  Apply early and be specific in your need!
